Ganguly announces his biopic!
Cricket Legend Sourav Ganguly’s Biopic Confirmed! Ranbir Kapoor To Play The Role Of ‘Dada’?
Among the hundreds of cricketers we had, we witnessed only two biopics. Films on master blaster Sachin Tendulkar and Captain Cool MS Dhoni were made a few years back and the third one, which is based on team India’s run to the World Cup trophy, got delayed due to Covid-19.
Now we are going to have one more and the film is based on the journey of former cricketer and current BCCI President Sourav Ganguly. “Cricket has been my life, it gave confidence and ability to walk forward with my head held high, a journey to be cherished. Thrilled that Luv Films will produce a biopic on my journey and bring it to life for the big screen,” tweeted Ganguly.
Ganguly was the man behind India’s cricket revolution in the 21st century. After taking over the captaincy, Ganguly encouraged a lot of youngsters. Harbhajan Singh, Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh and Dhoni made their debut in Ganguly’s captaincy.
In Ganguly’s era team India registered memorable victories and also reached the 2003 World Cup final (Though India lost). However, Ganguly lost captaincy and place in team India under dramatic circumstances in 2006. His return to team India and many more will be covered in the biopic.
Ganguly’s biopic will be made by Luv Ranjan under Luv Films banner. More details are awaited. It would be interesting to see which actor would reprise Ganguly on the silver screen.
Responding to Sourav Ganguly’s tweet, Luv Ranjan wrote, “It is more than an honor to have Dada in the Luv Films family! Thank you for making us a part of your life and letting us share it with the world.”
Ranjan’s production house, Luv Films also took to their official Twitter handle and made the announcement with a caption that read, “We are thrilled to announce that Luv Films will produce Dada Sourav Ganguly’s biopic. We are honored to be entrusted with this responsibility and look forward to a great innings.”
Sourav Ganguly’s journey will capture him from becoming the Indian Cricket team captain to international accolades for the country to becoming the BCCI president.
The former Indian captain once expressed his desire for Ranbir Kapoor to play his role in the biopic and now, it would be interesting to see who finally fits in Dada’s shoes as a cricketer in the film.
