IPL 2013- Virat and Gambhir get into a nasty fight.

What was the actual reason behind that sudden fight and conflict between the two players in the game between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Knight Riders Kolkata?

Public spats between Indian Test captain, Virat Kohli and his senior stalemate, Gautam Gambhir have made more headlines than their match-winning knocks. Both Virat and Gambhir are world renowned Indian cricketers. Fans still remember how the two Delhiites were involved in a brawl back in the year 2013 during an Indian Premier League (IPL) tie. However, what happened after that match is still unknown. Both Gambhir and Kohli had played down the incident but recently Gauti’s friend revealed the post-match incidences to The Times of India.

What had exactly happened on the occasion?

Tempers flew when Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper, Kohli, batting on 35 was caught in the sweeper cover region. As Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain, Gambhir and other players walked towards the cover region to celebrate, Kohli. Instead of going back to the pavilion walked towards short extra cover and Gambhir was seen walking angrily towards his junior India teammate. However, it was another Delhi lad Rajat Bhatia, who got in between them and tried to calm Gambhir down.

This is still regarded as one of the ugliest fights in IPL history. However, after the teams returned to their hotel, the Delhi lads were quick to sort out their differences. “It’s the sheer desire to win at all costs that brought out the conflict between Virat and Gautam. In fact, both Gambhir and Virat dined in his Taj Gardenia hotel room the day they fought in Bangalore in 2013. But sadly, these things never get reported,” said the left-hander’s friend.

“Both admire each other and Gambhir calls Virat ‘Cheeks’, while Virat addresses him as ‘Bhaiya’. Both love PlayStation, and currently are spending a lot of time together in the gym at Indore with Team India trainer Shanker Basu,” TOI quoted Gambhir’s friend.

Recently, Gambhir got a national call up for the last two Tests of the New Zealand series after a gap of two years due to an injury to KL Rahul. And on the first day of training at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, he and Kohli were seen joking around and mingling like true friends.

Remember, Gambhir was the one who gave away his man of the match award to Kohli, when the latter had scored an ODI hundred against Sri Lanka in the year 2009. So, unlike fan’s thinking, everything is very much fine between the two batsmen.
